Sub:Division began within a self-published comic book in 1998 by Angry Monkey. There were four short stories in the comic, with another four interactive stories on an accompanying CD-ROM. Nicole Weedon's Poopie Rabitt was another story from this comic. Before becoming fully animated, the Sub:Division chapter was first retold as an html-based web comic.
